Jelly is a casual co-working event, where home workers, freelancers, small business owners and office workers can get together with their laptops to have a change from their usual working environment, meet some new people and work together in a social environment.
It was started in the States in 2006 thanks to two New York freelancers and is now increasingly popular in the UK with numerous co-working groups already running – see the wiki page for the full worldwide list.
Jelly is a mixture of work, chat, sharing ideas, helping others with business issues, passing on tips and sometimes collaborating on the birth of a new project. Jelly is NOT networking – the aim is not to meet new clients, pitch your business or try to sell.
So if you ever feel isolated in your home or work office, want to meet some other like-minded people in a different environment but still get work done, then Jelly is for you. It’s free and we have 7 events per month all around Shropshire (and indeed over 60 in the UK!) so jump on in and give it a try!
The UK Jelly website has arrived! A place to find your nearest Jelly, list your Jelly events or get help to start your own Jelly event – visit www.uk-jelly.org.uk.
Shropshire Jelly, UK Jelly & all Jelly events are all not-for-profit ventures (or should be!), orgainsers and hosts give up their time and venues for free – the aim is to bring businesses together, not make money!

The best thing I can say is that I HATE networking but I loved Jelly! I think I got more from one day than what seems like a lifetime of Breakfast Clubs and Seminars…. let’s be straight I didn’t sell anything (I didn’t expect to) but I talked to genuine, interested, people about what I do and I listened to what they can do. All in all very productive and enjoyable.
